Slots Basics and Rules
Slot machines were an immediate hit when they came on the scene back in 1887. Charles Fey, a mechanic from San Franciso, was the inventor of the first Slot machine. Over a century later, Slots have grown tremendously in popularity, payout percentages, and Players. Over 30 Million people play slots each year. That's an impressive figure by any standard! So, what's so great about Slots? Novices and beginners usually say that they like Slots because they're fast, simple to play, and visually appealing. Seasoned players like them because they can bet a small amount and possibly walk away with a large sum of money. Also, with progressive slots, multiple paylines and bonus rounds provide higher returns.
Numbers is the name of the game when dealing with slots, even if the actual game itself may not use numbers. Don't get confused because, in theory, it's rather simple. The machine is programmed with numbers. When you place a bet and spin, the result or outcome of the spin is what the machine generated when you hit the Spin button.
To play, you only need to deposit coins into the machine and spin the reels. You will notice that a horizontal line or a series of horizontal lines fall across the screen of the Slot machine. If a combination of symbols fall on the horizontal line when the reels stop spinning, a set amount of money is won. You can find the payout chart on each machine.
There are two categories of Slots - Classic and Progressive. The main difference between the two types is the Jackpot size. Progressive games have higher jackpots than Classic Slots and their jackpot is constantly increasing. This happens because online Progressive slots are linked to a network, so the more people play on that game, the faster the jackpot will increase. Classic slots pay out according to a predetermined schedule. The Progressives pay out in a similar way unless a Jackpot is hit. In order to hit a Progressive jackpot, it is advised that you bet the maximum number of coins.
