House Edge - The percentage of the total bets and wagers in favour of the casino as its revenue. It is usually calculated as 100% - the Payout Percentage. If the House Edge is 2%, this means that the casino collects $0.02 as revenue for every $1 spent by a Player.

Multi-Line - This refers to a Slot machine that has more than one payline to win.

Pay Table - The chart outlining all winning combinations for that particular Slots game.

Payline - This is an imaginary line that crosses some or all the reels and is used to calculate the number of coins a Player could potentially win. Paylines differ according to the Slot game; for example, Classic Slots games generally have a single payline. Video Slot games can have in excess of 20 paylines with some going as high as 50.

Payout Percentage - Often referred to as the Payback Percentage, it is the percentage from the total bets that are returned to Players in the form of wins. Payout percentages for casinos usually range from 92% to 98%. This means that for every dollar spent on the machines, $0.92 to $0.98 are returned to Players as winnings.

Progressive Jackpot - This is any jackpot that increases during the game. A single bet on one of the three groups of 12 numbers; i.e. 1 to 12, 13 to 24, or 25 to 36. This bet pays 2:1.

Reels - The drums inside the slot machine that spin when you press the button.

Scatter Symbol - A symbol, often found on Bonus Video Slot machines, that enables a Player to win a free spin. Collecting the specified number of scatter icons anywhere on active pay lines will awards free spins and other items.

Symbol - The images displayed on the reels such as bars and sevens in Classic Slot games.

Wild Symbol - A symbol that substitutes other symbols and is used to build a winning combination. Depending on the theme of the Slot machine, different Wild Symbols may be used. Some wild symbols also act as a bonus symbol and could increase the number of coins a Player could win.

Wild Multiplier - A wild symbol that actually multiplies the win it makes a part of.
