All You Need To Know About Craps Terms
Craps is made even more appealing due to its interesting lingo. Nearly all dice combinations have a nickname. Learn all about them here.
Any Craps - A one roll bet that the next dice roll will be a 2, 3 or 12.
Any Seven - A one roll bet that the next dice roll will be a 7.
Big 6 and Big 8 - A bet that that a 6 or 8 will be rolled before a 7. It pays even money.
Chips - The tokens used to place wagers in Craps games.
Come Bet - A bet that is made after the Come Out roll that the dice will Pass.
Come Out Roll - The first roll of the dice before a Point is established.
Craps - Refers to the numbers 2, 3, and 12.
Dice - Two dice are used in the game of Craps. They are cubes numbered 1 - 6 and when rolled the total of both dice determine the wins or losses.
Don't Come Bet - A wager against the dice. It is placed after the come out roll.
Don't Pass Bet - A wager placed before the Come Out roll that a 7 will be rolled before a Point is repeated.
Don't Pass Line - The area on the Craps table where a Player places Don't Pass bets.
Even Money - A payoff of 1:1.
Free Odds Bet - In this type of bet, the house has no advantage. It is placed on the Pass, Don't Pass, Come, or Don't Come bet once the Point is established.
Hardway Bet - A bet that a 4, 6, 8, or 10 will be rolled as a pair (i.e. the hard way) before being rolled the easy way or before a 7 is rolled.
Inside Numbers - The numbers 5, 6, 8, and 9. They are usually played on Place bets.
Lay Odds - Odds bet against the number that pays off at less than even money.
OddsThe probability that a dice combination will be rolled during a game.
Pass Line Bet - A bet that the dice will pass or win. It is made before the come out roll.
Place Numbers and Place Bets - The place numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. The place bet is one that one or more of the place numbers will be rolled before a 7.
Point - Point numbers are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. The Point number is established on the come out roll.
Proposition Bets - Bets made in the centre of the craps table layout.
Snake Eyes - A slang term for the number 2.
True Odds - The odds that a particular number will be rolled on any single roll of the dice.
